SIMPLEX GRAVITY FED DAY TANK OPTIONS
SDE = Economy Day Tank, SST = Super Day Tank, SMT = Manual Day Tank
A = Available, NA = Not Available, S = Standard

Other Day Tank Options:
Mechanical, Containment/Rupture Basins, Control Devices and Alarms, Duplex Pump Systems,
Sight Glasses, Level Indicators and Gauges, Pumps and Motors

A day tank will be gravity-siphon fed when:
1) The main tank is above the day tank.
2) The main tank is on the approximate same grade as the day tank and the level in the main tank is at times above the level in the day tank and/or supply piping runs overhead.

If any of these conditions exists, a positive fuel shut-off automatic control must be added to the day tank. Simplex recommends options 060, 080, 087, 376, 377, and 190/191 for all gravity-fed systems. Add options 383, 390, and 170 if desired as an added precaution. Normally, the standard pump is retained on the day tank to permit automatic priming of the line and to overcome pipe friction. Delete pump option (X002) only if system is self-priming and gravity flow is adequate rate to refill tank.

A

NA
Siphon-break solenoid valve for remote installation. N.O., ¼” valve installed in tee at highest point of supply line. Used to break siphon when open, make siphon when closed. Connected to tank level controller to energize (close) whenever fuel required

NA
Overflow-return tank: Tank designed to automatically drain only in order to return overflow from adjacent day tank to remote main tank. Includes all features of a standard SST Day Tank, except level controller arranged for automatic and full draining. Pump starts at 20% and stops at virtual empty level. Overflow alarm activates at 30%.
Includes pump suction tube, check valve to prevent back flow. Add optional pumps as required.

390

NA

A

NA
Overflow return pump and controller added to standard day tank. Use this option for gravity-siphon fed day tanks or whenever the day tank overflow line runs above the day tank. Adds second pump which functions solely as overflow return pump (first pump remains as fill pump). Activates at overflow-alarm point and pumps down to 75%. Overflow control includes “overflow-return” “pump armed” and “overflow-return pump running” indicators, and test push-button. “Overflow” alarm activates and latches, but day tank automatic refill capability is maintained. Option price includes standard 2GPM, 115-1-60 pump and check valve. To add higher capacity pumps, refer to optional pumps and motors.
