Simplex has been in business since 1938 and in Springfield since 1952. We have been under the same family ownership and management throughout. The owners are Springfield residents. All members of Simplex reside in Springfield or in the adjoining communities. The demand for our specialized services is fairly constant and we have enjoyed steady growth, free of boom/bust cycles. We are an engineering oriented business. Most of our work is dedicated to creative design and development. Our production processes are limited to sheet metal fabrication, plumbing assembly and light assembly of electrical equipment. We are not, in any way, what one would consider a “smokestack” industry. Our business involves the sales of products and services to industrial users nationwide. We do not sell locally and do not have any retail business or walk-in sales traffic. As a private enterprise, Simplex adds to the community. Simplex is locally family owned, totally self-supporting and requires no public financial support, special loans or tax concessions. Instead, Simplex brings to Springfield approximately $3.5 million annually as payrolls, purchases and taxes. The capital brought to Springfield by Simplex is not money taken from others as taxes; it is capital created by the imaginative minds and creative hands of the members of our company. |
